Kenya Karani is sourced from family owned farms organized around the Karani Factory near the fertile foothills of Mount Kenya. The Karani factory (mill), which processes cherry from members who generally cultivate around 250 coffee trees on half-acre plots. Small plots give these producers more control to strategically pick and deliver only the ripest cherry to the factory. The coffee is depulped, fermented, washed and soaked in fresh water for long periods of time to give the coffee its hallmark Kenya profile with notes of clean heirloom tomatoe, berries and chocolate undertones.
